Derby is at an important moment, with a real opportunity for businesses to come together behind a shared vision for a stronger city centre.
Cathedral Quarter BID and St Peters Quarter BID have supported traders, championed the city, delivered events, backed crime reduction initiatives and helped businesses make their voices heard.
Derby BID would build on that success through one joined-up structure, extending the benefits across a wider area, including businesses in and around Becketwell, while protecting the distinct identity of each place.

03 What a BID delivers

A BID is business-led. Eligible businesses vote to invest collectively in additional services and projects, with the levy ring-fenced to deliver the priorities set out in the Business Plan.
The aim is not to replace public services, but to add activity that supports businesses and improves the trading environment.

What is a Business Improvement District?
A BID is a defined area where businesses vote to invest collectively in improvements, services and projects that support the trading environment. It is business-led and works alongside, rather than replacing, existing public services.
Why bring the existing BIDs together?
One Derby BID would reduce duplication, work across a wider footprint and give city centre businesses a stronger shared voice. It would build on the strengths and experience of Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter rather than wiping them away.
Will the identity of each area disappear?
No. Cathedral Quarter, St Peters Quarter and Becketwell each have a distinctive character. The proposal is designed to protect and celebrate those identities while gaining the benefits of being part of something bigger and better connected.
